Nowzad working animal project
08 February 2021

A working donkey has no life in Afghanistan – just toil, pain and a never ending slog along roads crammed with cars or up torturous slopes to reach the mountain villages that surround Kabul. Nowzad has finally gained permission to roll out our working animal programme across all of Kabul. Our team led by Dr Reshad is super excited and eager to lend these overworked donkeys a hoof…(see what we did there?)

When you open the fridge and find that the brown sauce bottle is empty – there is no choice. Even in a war zone. A journey to the supermarket calls…. And thankfully for a little male...

The latest leg of Op. Kramatorsk is officially in the books! Lach and Angela have successfully evacuated a group of vulnerable puppies from the frontlines of Kramatorsk to Borodianka over the past couple of days, bringing these little ones a step closer to safety. Evacuating animals from a conflict zone was never going to be a simple “A to B” journey though, with a few dramas and roadside rescues thrown in on the way. Vol is not only extremely hard working, he's also excellent at navigating some of the treacherous roads Nowzad delivers supplies to...a kind and compassionate young man, who always has a cheerful smile despite personal tragedy and we are most fortunate to have on the team. #NowzadUkraine #Nowzad #OperationKramatorsk #NoAnimal

Our two didn't have much on hand, but he happily accepted some pasta, giving the bowl a very grateful lick! And, then after the last mouthfall, sauntered right over to Angela for some much-needed scratches! Lach h

Well, it’s CATURDAY here again in Ukraine , and while the sounds of the frontline aren’t so far away, the sound we’re focusing on today is the miaows of these tiny survivors. Angela and Dr. Lach are back on the ground in the far east as of yesterday, as part of “Operation Kramatorsk”. Between evacuating animals from the handful of shelters and foster homes, they’ve been running pop-up clinics and making home visits to the local volunteers who stayed behind. Pen to follow again very soon! Thes
