£100,000 Raised! Thank You for Making Our New Home a Reality!

We are absolutely blown away by your incredible generosity! Thanks to our amazing community of supporters, we have reached our initial £100,000 target to fund the monumental task of relocating our animal hospital and donkey sanctuary.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us raise this incredible amount so quickly. This achievement is a testament to your compassion and dedication to the animals in our care.

The Big Move is Underway!

With your vital support, the huge move across the city has already begun. Your donations are being put to work right now as we:

  • Carefully move animals to their new and temporary homes.

  • Lay the foundations for brand-new, sturdy stables.

  • Construct temporary accommodation at both the old and new sites to manage the transition.

  • Tile our crucial quarantine areas and new kitchens to ensure they are hygienic and ready for food preparation.

  • Transfer all of our medical supplies and equipment, including the very large operating tables!

Our Journey Doesn't Stop Here

While we are amazed to have reached our initial goal, the need for funds continues. Operating a hospital and donkey sanctuary comes with significant running costs, from animal food to the wages for our dedicated Afghan team (the average monthly salary in Kabul is $300 USD).

Furthermore, this relocation presents a unique, once-in-a-generation opportunity to build better facilities than ever before. We want to create a hospital that is even more effective at treating urgent welfare cases and a sanctuary capable of housing at least double the number of donkeys and horses in need.

Building a Brighter Future: Our Next Goals

Once the initial relocation is fully funded, your continued support will help us achieve so much more. We would love to:

  • Build an exercise run for the dogs. We are currently caring for 39 dogs at the hospital. An exercise run would provide a safe area for our dog trainer, Awrang, to work with them on behaviour and socialisation, preparing them for their forever homes.

  • Set up a new functioning hoist. This essential piece of equipment helps us lift and support the many hospitalised horses and donkeys that are too weak to stand on their own.

  • Dig a well at the new sanctuary. A well would provide a sustainable source of water, ending our reliance on expensive and regular truck deliveries. As Kabul faces water shortages, this is a critical step towards self-sufficiency.

  • Construct rodent-proof storage areas. This will protect the hay, barley, alfalfa, and fresh vegetables we purchase for the working animals from pests, ensuring their food supply is safe and secure.

  • Purchase vital medicines. We have a constant monthly need for essential medical supplies, including vaccinations, antibiotics, pain killers, anaesthesia, and specialised anaesthetic masks for different sized animals.
