Nowzad working animal project
08 February 2021

A working donkey has no life in Afghanistan – just toil, pain and a never ending slog along roads crammed with cars or up torturous slopes to reach the mountain villages that surround Kabul. Nowzad has finally gained permission to roll out our working animal programme across all of Kabul. Our team led by Dr Reshad is super excited and eager to lend these overworked donkeys a hoof…(see what we did there?)

A pretty purr-fect Caturday update for Operation Kramatorsk!! We know so many of you have been anxiously waiting for news on the brave felines evacuated from Ukraine, and on this very rainy #Caturday, we are so pleased to bring you an update on them all. Meet Khoshbakht (which means “Lucky” in Dari), a brave little puppy who has truly lived up to his name. ❤️ Khoshbakht’s journey to us was not an easy one. Born by the ro

Meet Druzhok🥰 When volunteers rescued this beautiful boy from the frontlines back in April and brought him to Ksenia’s in Kramatorsk, she knew exactly what to name him: Druzhok. In English, it means “Little Friend.” It’s a fitting name for a dog who has survived so much. Druzhok was originally found abandoned in Druzhkivka—a town just a short distance down the road from Kramatorsk, right in the thick of the frontline Donetsk region. Sadly, the safety Druzhok found with Ksenia was blown away o

We are absolutely thrilled to announce our new sheltered feeding shed for all our rescued equines at the Nowzad Donkey Sanctuary in Afghanistan!! With the summer heat in Kabul now getting hotter and hotter, providing relief for our donkeys and horses was a top priority. Thanks to our incredibly generous friends at Network for Animals, we have officially completed construction on a brand-new, sheltered feeding area, and it is now in full use! As you can see, it provides amazing shade and cool
