A note from Pen, Nowzad founder.

This year has finally brought the closure I needed on the events surrounding August 2021 and the evacuation of Kabul. Just as I had almost given up hope of finding a publisher, the marvellous team at Claret Press gave me the opportunity to publish ‘Operation Ark’ in July of this year, both as a paperback and an audiobook.

It’s crazy how quickly a normal day on-site can turn into a life-saving mission. When roadwork began in Pul-e-Charkhi, Kabul, engineers made a discovery beneath the asphalt they were breaking up - 15 tiny puppies from four different litters, all huddled together inside holes under the road.
