Happy WORLD DONKEY DAY from Maverick’s Sanctuary in Kabul! Today is all about celebrating the incredible, hardworking, and soulful creatures that truly are the backbone of societies all across the globe. From carrying essential supplies to being loyal companions, donkeys do so much — so today, we’re making sure we do even more for them!
Our amazing team at our Donkey Sanctuary in Kabul has been busy this morning spoiling our resident long-eared legends. As you can see in these photos and videos, it’s been a total "snack-fest!"
From crunchy carrots to their absolute favourite – the soft, red part of the water melons - our 13 donkeys are getting the five-star treatment today. Seeing them this happy is the perfect reminder of why we do what we do at Maverick’s Sanctuary.
Each of our donkeys has a unique spirit that keeps us smiling! And don’t ever believe the myths – donkeys are thoughtful and clever, as well as being some of the most toughest and patient animals that walk this earth. We just love them for their resilience and will be giving them all extra hugs and a last little water melon treat tonight as we turn off the lights there.
