40 supporters from Nowzad and the amazing Animals Asia charity donned walking boots and waterproofs to trek to the top of Mount Snowdon in North Wales for our annual charity fundraiser to the top of the highest mountain in England and Wales.
And the weather did not disappoint… if we thought it was wet on the way up it was definitely wet on the way down.
With all our supporters safely on the top we enjoyed a prolonged break in the warmth and shelter of the summit café to swap wet clothing for dry and enjoy a hot cuppa before we stepped outside again for the duty summit photo and the now increasing wind which at times was gusting 70miles an hour plus.
It was a desperate descent back to the sanctuary of our base for the weekend; the Tyn Y Coed pub in Capel Curig.
Thankfully though we had safety cover provided by our volunteer mountain leaders; Chris, Al and Cavey who did a fabulous job in making sure everyone achieved their goal safely.
Also we must give a fabulous well done to Al and Nowzad founder Pen who though once up Snowdon wasn’t enough for a weekend so to push their fundraising challenge for Nowzad decided to tackle a 55km route that entailed 4500m of ascent over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday whilst also doing 484 push ups as part of the #22pushupchallenge to highlight PTSD. They both ended up summiting Snowdon three times!!
It was a fabulous weekend – the famous Saturday night quiz did not disappoint and we hope to see everyone back next year for another attempt on the summit!
Snowdon 2017 – 16th September - start training TODAY. Booking forms will be out in early January but you can always make it your goal to fundraise for Nowzad now!!
