In amongst all this week’s evacuation runs, we had a late night call from Ksenia about a Ukrainian soldier who was reaching out in total distress — he believed his beloved pal on base, Anfiska, had ingested rat poison. This is an emergency in any context. Poisoning requires specialised care, and at that hour, no local veterinary clinics were available.
