As many of you know we have been honoured to have Peter EganRicky Gervais and Jane Fallon supporting our vital work for the animals of Afghanistan for some time now. So we are sure that you will be thrilled to hear that the comedic genius that is Ricky and his Best Selling Author partner Jane and the Perfect Spy, Peter Egan are now official Patrons of the Nowzad Charity!

Both Jane (author of many novels including the best seller ‘My Sweet Revenge’) and Ricky (the hilarious one-man show ‘Humanity’ and star of the movie; ‘David Brent; life on the road’) who was recently awarded the prestigious Lord Houghton Award for Service to Animal Welfare from Animal Defenders International) have long been amazing animal welfare advocates supporting many charities working hard to protect animals around the world.

Ricky announced his support for Nowzad via a video on Facebook which was soon picked up by several media outlets and you can view them here, here and here!

With Jane and Ricky on-board promoting the amazing work that Nowzad is doing in Afghanistan we can only do even more good work to make a difference for the animals with no voice but ours!

Long-time Nowzad supporter Peter Egan is also officially unveiled as a Patron for Nowzad!
But the star of ‘A Perfect Spy’ and ‘Shrimpie’; in the recent TV series of Downtown Abbey; is no stranger to Nowzad having travelled to Kabul during the summer of 2014. Without a moment’s consideration, Peter stepped into assist during an operation to save a dog life’s in a makeshift operating theatre during a power-cut and 40o C heat. Peter saved the day by holding a camera light aloft so the surgeon could actually see what she was doing, (Peter’s stamina was really tested as it was not a small camera and the operation lasted over an hour..!). Peter is a well-known animal welfare advocate and we know he will continue to raise awareness of the work of Nowzad in Afghanistan. We would like to publically thank Peter for all he does for animal welfare worldwide and look forward to seeing him in Kabul at the Nowzad clinic again one day, although we do have a generator now-a-days in case of a power cut we are sure he will be happy to know!
