What a night!

Last Friday, our very own David and Ann, and the always-gorgeous Ewok had the honour of representing Nowzad at an incredible fundraiser organised by the amazing Belinda & Anthony from Belli International Real Estate!

The event, benefiting both Nowzad and Edinburgh Dogs & Cats Home, was a blast with fantastic food, awesome 80s vibes (so many great outfits!), and a surprise performance by the brilliant Sandi Thom singing her No.1 hit "I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker"!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and showed their support through the delicious meal, exciting auction and raffle, and rocking out to the Betamax Bandits!

We are especially grateful to Belinda and Anthony for their tireless efforts in organising such a successful event, and to Georgina Hart from Studio Hart for capturing all the wonderful memories - they raised over £1800 - what an amazing total!!

Thank you to all those who attended and donated - your generosity makes a real difference to animals in need.

Today marks a milestone in the life of the Nowzad charity… we have turned 18! Our charity was created after the rescue of a docked eared former fighting dog called Nowzad back in 2007. None of us back then really knew what was to come and what Nowzad’s legacy would create but here we are, an internationally recognised charity operating in Afghanistan and Ukraine. Imagine finding an animal utterly resigned to its fate. That’s what Nowzad’s Chief Vet Dr Reshad faced with ‘Maverick’ in February, amidst the rubble of one of Afghanistan’s notoriously bleak brick kilns. Numbers vary but there are around 600 kilns across Kabul alone, where horses are often worked to death.
