Adopting A Nowzad Rescue

img

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of all Nowzad and Operation Ark’s supporters, Operation Ark was a huge success, bringing back to the UK almost 200 animals that were under Nowzad's care in Kabul.

We are delighted to say that all the dogs and cats of Operation Ark are now out of quarantine and in the UK. We have a number of dogs of various ages ready for adoption. These deserving souls are looking for understanding and loving homes. Please have a look at their profiles and see if any steal your heart! Do please keep checking back as we add more to the website.

All rescued animals are listed with their photograph and full profile – as individuals, each dog and cat has certain character traits and wants/needs so interested adopters are encouraged to read the profiles carefully before submitting an online application. If you would like to submit an application form for one of these Dogs/Cats please complete an application form.

We do not rehome our animals to:

  • Families with Children under 12 years of age
  • Our dogs cannot live with cats

We aim to process applications as soon as we can but please remember the Nowzad team is very small so please bear with us!

Thank you so much, once again, for your incredible support and compassion for these Nowzad dogs and cats.

As the only official dog and cat shelter in Afghanistan we are now seeing western contractors, soldiers and Afghan nationals alike rescuing stray and injured cat and dogs from the harsh streets of Kabul.

Whilst our main priority is to attempt to re-home dogs and cats from our shelter in Kabul with caring homes in Afghanistan, we also have many dogs and cats that; after being looked after by a westerner working or serving in Afghanistan; we feel that a forever home in the west would be the best long term solution.
If you have any doubts about adopting a dog or cat from Afghanistan then please take 5 minutes to read about these amazing adoption stories and how the dog or cat changed their new owners lives;

All of our Nowzad former street dogs or cats will need a home where love and patience walk hand in hand. It can be a long road of trial and error and careful supervision is always necessary. Overcoming the Afghan animal’s very territorial nature can have its moments.

We have fully come to appreciate that adopting an Afghan animal is not for everybody as it requires a life time of commitment but could you be the loving home our companion animals are looking for?

Before any of our dogs or cats leave Afghanistan they are vaccinated, spayed/neutered by our highly experienced team of Afghan national veterinarians at our clinic in Kabul.

The team at Nowzad feel it is very important to ensure that you and your family / home situation is right for the dog or cat you are considering adopting. Please be as honest with us as you can when you complete the questionnaire. Some of our older dogs or cats that need ‘forever’ homes may not readily accept other dogs that are already living in your home but our younger dogs will settle with the correct introduction and supervision.
