This is more than a calendar. It is 12 months of real moments, real rescues and the animals whose lives were touched during Nowzad’s work in Ukraine.

The photographs featured throughout our 2027 Nowzad Calendar were taken during Operation Kramatorsk and our wider work with shelters and rescuers across Ukraine. Behind each photograph is a little piece of that story — from puppies finally safe and warm, to animals beginning long journeys away from the frontline, and those precious moments when frightened animals allowed themselves to trust again.

Every month shares a photograph and a few words about the moment behind it. Some will make you smile, some may pull at your heart, but each one is a reminder of the individual animals behind the numbers — and the people who refused to leave them behind.

Perhaps our favourite thing about this calendar is that these aren't polished photographs taken especially for its pages. They are moments that simply happened along the way. A cuddle before another 14-hour journey, a curious kitten exploring Pen’s route out of Kramatorsk, rescued puppies snuggled together at a shelter, and a quiet moment of trust between Pen and a dog on the frontline.

We hope that as you turn each page throughout 2027, these faces will remind you why Nowzad is there — and what kindness can mean to an animal caught in a war they never chose.
