Discovered by Dr. Reshad, our beautiful foal is the newest addition to our sanctuary and our sponsorship scheme. Initially named "No Ears" due to the savage loss of her ears during a dog attack one evening, Tallulah suffered severe injuries and was found unable to stand after her tethering rope had gotten caught all around her legs. Both ears were bleeding heavily and she was in a very sorry state when Dr Reshad reached her.
Tallulah was going to be used for horse rides to local children, but, fortunately for her and us, Tallulah’s owner rejected her after the attack as he no longer deemed her “pretty” enough.
Our team took her straight to our sanctuary where Dr Reshad provided emergency treatment to stem the flow of blood. After weeks of dedicated care, including by Pen who flew in to Kabul the night Tallulah was rescued, this beautiful little foal is now thriving, running freely and enjoying the sanctuary life alongside other donkeys and her surrogate mum Azad. Her new name means “leaping water” or just simply “spring” which couldn’t sum Tallulah up better. She has a renewed zest for life and even plays with our sanctuary dog “King” now – replacing her fear of dogs after the attack with friendship. It’s a very happy ending.
