Yakkul was rescued in Ghazni by American soldiers. Whilst out on patrol they had come across a pack of dogs who all had injuries and were malnourished. They did what they could to treat the dogs’ wounds and fed them and as they were leaving they noticed a 4 week old puppy in amongst them but there was no female dog around. Not wanting to leave him there as there was no sign of his mother they took Yakkul back to camp.
Yakkul became a much loved member of the team and when it came the time for the soldiers to leave one soldier decided to adopt the playful youngster. Yakkul arrived at Nowzad so we could vaccinate and fundraise for his flight to the US.
Yakkul went home in Oct 2013.
