Nina’s background with Nowzad goes almost back to the beginning.

Whilst living in Afghanistan in 2008, she used to drop by the first ever Nowzad dog shelter on the outskirts of Kabul to have some time-out with the rescue dogs, walking them, playing with them and even reading to the poorly ones!

The charity’s been a big part of Nina’s life since – she was our first team member into Ukraine in March 2022, establishing key contacts and a vital supply line (fuelled by copious amounts of coffee and delicious Ukrainian chocolate). Nina now manages the trusts and foundations that help fund our crucial Ukrainian and Afghan programmes, focusing on everything from vaccination/sterilisation campaigns in both countries, to making sure the animal food, medicines and everything else for our animals keeps on flowing. She also dabbles in the social media side of things and loves reading all the lovely comments people write on our pages about Nowzad!
