Jen started volunteer fundraising for Nowzad in 2013 after adopting her first of six Nowzad animals. To date the amount she has raised totals just under £68k for the charity. After deciding to sell her co owned business  in 2021 she joined Nowzad as adoptions manager and within a few months faced the enormous challenge of the import, management, training, socialisation and rehoming of the operation Ark animals plus some more since from both Ukraine and Afghanistan.

Driven by a passion for the long term welfare of shelter animals she works closely across the miles with the Kabul team to help with enrichment and socialisation programmes to ensure compassionate long term conditions for the permanent residents and to prepare animals for adoption to help facilitate their transition into a home environment. She has organised and provided enough sensory and activity toys for 50 dogs and 30 cats.

Dealing with present and future adopters in different countries across various time zones can be challenging. Offering full rescue back up and ensuring that the animals settle and become valued family pets makes it all worthwhile.
