Purple

Purple came to us in early January 2024. He was found by our team covered in multiple open wounds all over his body and was quickly christened with his name, thanks to the colour of the wound spray we used on him.

Very sadly, Purple had been overloaded with goods to take up and down mountainsides that weighed his small body down. From the state of the old and new wounds, he had clearly fallen under the weight many times and sustained injuries everywhere.  Our vets convinced the owner that he needed rest and recovery time at our hospital where we were delighted to see him heal under Nowzad’s treatment and care.

Purple was returned to his owner, as promised, however just one week later, Dr Reshad came across him again, in as bad a state as before. The winter weather had brought heavy rainfall and flooding, and Purple had fallen again from the strain of his heavy loads and trying to walk through the relentless mud.  He was incredibly weak and shaking from the cold and shock, without any blanket or coat.

He needed immediate hospitalization again but, this time, he would not be returned. It was very difficult for Dr Reshad to convince the owner to give Purple up, even with compensation, however it was agreed in the end. It’s not often at all that we see such disregard for an animal, but Purple was a case that really saddened our staff. Thankfully he will now live out his days permanently at our shelter – a very comfortable, happy and long life we hope.
