Charlie arrived at our sanctuary in 2021 as a young foal, alongside his mother, Pat. Before coming to us, Charlie spent his earliest days on the outskirts of Kabul, following his mother as she worked the difficult mountain trails.
Even in those challenging beginnings, Charlie’s devoted nature was clear; he and his mother have always been inseparable, sticking together "like glue" through every transition. Now safe at the sanctuary, he has traded the steep mountainsides for a life of security and companionship.
Charlie has grown up protected and loved, blossoming into a friendly presence at the sanctuary. While he was always close to his mum’s side until she sadly passed away at the Sanctuary in February 2026, he’s found his own rhythm in his permanent home. Whether he’s exploring the paddock or greeting visitors, Charlie is a testament to the bright future a foal can have when given the right start.
Please consider making a donatation to help another donkey or horse receive the treatment they all so desperately need. Thank-you for caring.
