Crush is the living definition of the word "resilient." His journey to the sanctuary began under tragic circumstances when, while overburdened with heavy loads, he lost his footing and suffered a harrowing fall from a mountain. This was in October 2025.

The impact resulted in severe fractures to his left back leg, leaving him in a critical and incredibly painful state. He was rushed to our equine hospital, where our veterinary team immediately went to work. X-rays confirmed the breaks, and Crush was fitted with heavy casts to stabilise the limb and give his body a chance to recover.

For nearly a month, Crush remained a model patient, showing incredible patience during his restricted rest and medical treatments. When the day finally came to remove the casts, we were all overjoyed to see significant healing progress.

Recognising that Crush deserved a life free from the physical demands that led to his accident, his owner entrusted him to our permanent care. No longer expected to navigate steep mountain paths with heavy burdens, Crush is now free to heal at his own pace.

Crush currently has a whole stable to himself and is incredibly friendly with staff and other animals alike!
