Operation Ark Update

We want to start by thanking our wonderful supporters for their patience over the past week.  It has been a week fraught with shock, distress and, at times, elation. And most of it has played out over the world's media which is something we have no control over.

So although it is with mixed emotions and a sincere and very deep feeling of sadness for the Afghan people, Nowzad can take a breath to announce that Pen and the animals have arrived safely in the UK, and have spent the last two days since arriving back recovering from a journey none of us would ever want to take. The past two days have also included endless veterinary care visits to the dogs and cats at their quarantine kennels to check on their welfare and health, with the Nowzad team on hand 24/7 to support the medical staff with the necessary administrative procedures required for their entry into the UK and life here afterwards.

As has always been the case, Operation Ark is NOT over until the Afghan Nowzad team are out of danger.  We have been working tirelessly to secure their evacuation...... we will NOT rest until they have reached safety.

We thank you all wholeheartedly for giving us the breathing space to get this essential work done over the past week, and for the dedication that you have consistently given to our Operation Ark mission for the rescue of these animals and our wonderful staff. We also look forward to showing you their onwards journey and Pen will be posting up personal messages to all Nowzad supporters whenever he can, and when he has recovered from his ordeal. Please check this website page for updates as we receive them.

Once again but with such heartfelt sentiment - thank-you all - this would not have been possible without your support.

Instead of our usual Fury post this week, and due to the whole, absolutely devastating situation in the region, we wanted to give an update from our team in Kabul. Thank you to every one of you who have asked us how they and all the animals are doing recently. We always pass your messages on. And it helps so much in times like these. ❤️ Your kindness and care keeps our teams going, until that day when peace finally replaces conflict and war. “In recent months, daily life in Afghanistan has b

PAWS ACROSS BORDERS | 10/03/26 Thank you so much for all your donations last week for our lovely trio Albert, Dee & Abi. Every “Once Upon a Time” deserves a “Happily Ever After!” and these lucky three have fabulous homes waiting for them to finish the fairytale. But we need your help to get them there. Every £$€ helps them a paw closer to that warm bed and a family to call their own. Just click on any of their links below to donate. Let’s make their tails wag a little more this week. The

What a busy and inspiring weekend for the whole Nowzad team! 🐾 While Pen was busy sharing our story with wonderful crowds in Totnes and the Royal British Legion Banstead, another part of the team was representing us in London. David, Ann, and Ewok made it to the Ealing Animal Charities Fair! It was a fantastic day spent manning the stand and connecting with so many passionate animal lovers. Highlights included catching up with our amazing patron, Peter Egan, who stopped by to show his suppor

Today marks a milestone that truly takes our breath away. For one entire decade, the incredible community at Raise 4 Nowzad has been a lifeline for the animals in our care. From the countless parcels packed with love to the relentless effort of organising monthly auctions, this group has been a force of nature. We are beyond thankful to the heart and soul of the group too, Ann. Because of her dedication and the R4N generosity, the total raised as of December 2025 is a staggering: £114,584.00

Our beautiful girl Pat spent the majority of her life as a working donkey in one of the harshest environments we could imagine – within the high-altitude villages surrounding Kabul, Afghanistan. Here, donkeys are the lifeblood of the community, often providing the only means of transporting water and goods. Pat was forced to perform this gruelling work while battling rickets - a condition caused by severe nutritional deficiencies. This led to a softening of her bones, causing her legs to bow un
