Operation Ark book extract released!

Claret Press, who are publishing the highly anticapted book of Pen Farthing's extraordinary evacuation of 171 animals and 67 people during August of 2021 on the 8th July, have just released an extract!

Operation Ark is the powerful memoir of the most controversial figure of the 2021 Afghanistan Evacuation, whose story captured global headlines. As an independent inquiry later found, the government was “Missing in Action” with Pen caught in the crossfire. He had to steer his charity staff and animals through the dangers of a Taliban takeover and a political storm back home.

Ricky Gervais has praised the story as "nothing short of heroic" and Britt Collins from The Daily Beast as "“A compelling, vivid, and distressing account of what happened in those last days and a damning indictment of foreign policy failures."

Peter Egan has also called Operation Ark "The most remarkable book... it's exciting, it's mesmerising" and elaborated in a video on X (formerly known as Twitter). It's well worth the watch.

Yesterday was one of the long ones, but it was worth every second! Just look at the dogs as they come out of the crates after the journey, into their new home for now. Dan and Pen have just finished a VERY tough 12-hour drive to get 5 more dogs out of the danger zone in Kramatorsk and safely into the shelter in Kyiv. #nowzad #kramatorsk #operationkramatorsk #ukrainerelief #nowzaddogscharity

Today has been a total whirlwind of emotion, action, and hope. In the Field with Pen 🎥 Check out the video from Pen, who’s currently en route with a truckload of animals - one dog (‘Peter’) going straight to the vets in Kyiv this evening to hopefully resolve some worrying health issues. We’re moving as fast as we can to get these dogs to safety in Kyiv and away from the immediate dangers of the conflict. Every mile brings them closer to a new, peaceful life. Morning everybody out there! Pen and Dan have just arrived back at the shelter in Kramatorsk. But the situation feels even more critical this morning. Last night, Pen witnessed the devastating impact of the conflict, counting at least 13 Shahid drone strikes in the area. The destruction and pain caused to everyday Ukrainian people and their animals just seems relentless. 💔 But we aren’t just watching; we’re acting! Pen and Dan are currently building crates to evacuate 5 more dogs today, movin
