New videos about our work in Afghanistan and Ukraine

At Nowzad, our mission every day is driven by a simple, unwavering belief: animals caught in conflict zones deserve a second chance. Right now, our dedicated teams are working tirelessly on the ground in Afghanistan and Ukraine - rescuing, treating, and rehabilitating the forgotten victims of war. All the many stray dogs, cats, and working animals caught up in the devastation and aftermath. This work is dangerous, demanding, but utterly vital.

Our new video gives you a glimpse into the heart of what we do and the incredible resilience of the animals we save.
Your donation is high-value currency in the lives of these distressed animals. Even a small contribution can make a life-changing difference for one dog or cat, a donkey or a horse.

Please take a moment to watch and see the difference YOU help us make.

It is the belief that in the face of human conflict and devastation, every animal deserves to be seen, saved, and granted a second chance at a life free from fear. They are the voiceless, often forgotten victims of war, and we are their advocates.

At Nowzad, our mission is not just a daily task: it's a profound promise

  • Into the Eye of the Storm Right now, our brave and dedicated teams are on the ground in the world's most dangerous environments, from the rugged landscapes of Afghanistan 🇦🇫 to the frontline communities of Ukraine. We navigate chaos to reach those in desperate need: the countless stray dogs and cats, the abandoned livestock, and the working animals caught in the crossfire or left to starve in the devastating aftermath. This isn't just a rescue; it's a comprehensive, life-altering commitment. It involves emergency triage, intensive veterinary care, rehabilitation, and, often, the daunting logistics of reunification or rehoming. The work is incredibly dangerous, emotionally demanding, but fundamentally vital. We are risking our own safety to ensure these animals have a future.

  • Glimpses of Incredible Resilience Our new, longer-form video journey, "The Long Road to Recovery," invites you deep into the heart of this work. You will witness the shocking reality of animal suffering in conflict zones, but more importantly, you will see the miracles of resilience. Watch a terrified stray take its first tentative step toward trust. See a wounded horse stand strong again.

  • Your Contribution: A Life-Changing Partnership In the conflict zones we serve, your donation is not just money; it is high-value currency for survival and hope. It funds the surgical instruments, the vital medications, the emergency transport, and the warm shelter these distressed animals rely on. A small contribution can cover a round of life-saving vaccinations. A moderate contribution can provide emergency surgery for a bomb-blast victim. A generous contribution can fund the entire complex process of bringing a dog from Kabul to a loving home in the UK. This is a partnership in compassion.

Please take a moment to watch Nowzad's extended film here and fully grasp the depth of the challenges we face and the magnitude of the difference YOU empower us to make.

Every life saved is a light in the darkness.

Pen did a live interview with Emma Bullimore on BBC this morning about the work Nowzad are currently doing in Ukraine. Enroute more supply-loading at the warehouse, Liuba took Peter Egan and team to pay respects to fallen Ukrainian soldiers. A very emotional morning and startling seeing the vast number of lives cut short by a senseless war. This isn't the end of it...there are many more graves for brave soldiers they've lost. #Ukraine #NoAnimalLeftBehind #CannonballRun #OperationKramatorsk

Another busy week ahead of vaccinating, neutering and spaying, as well as food and essential supply drops. As we race against time, we're joined by more members of the team as there's much work to be done. We think you may recognise one in particular! In the snapshot video, the team heckled their driver, as they experienced first hand, the pot-holed ride into Lviv, where our brilliant and beautiful Liuba got to meet someone very special to Nowzad. Over the next few days, we'll introduce our

Whilst Pen and Dan spent more hours on the road today, the rest of the Nowzad Ukraine team, David, Liuba, Dr Lachlan and Angela were hard at work organising and packing the van ready to head into Hostomel and Borodyanka Sunday morning. In addition to food supplies, there is also all the necessary equipment and supplies needed to set up a surgical clinic. The amount we need to take with us to set up a surgical clinic from nothing is massive! Everything from instruments to medications to means fo
