Legacy of LOVE and more!

Legacy of Love will be a luxury, coffee table book, filled with heartfelt words, stunning photos and beautiful art written by a variety of contributors. A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign will be launched in June to raise the funds for this creative project. All profits from book sales will go to the Animal Charities featured in the book.
And guess what? Our very own founder Pen Farthing was asked to write a chapter to be included in Legacy of Love and so in our October newsletter we will feature details on how you can order your copy in time for Christmas!

Pen’s chapter will feature the story of ‘Gift’, a stray dog suffering terribly on the streets of Kabul but now safely at Nowzad!

You can read more on who has contributed at legacyoflovebook.org but we believe these two rather famous folk sell the book better than we can;

"The words and images in this fascinating book will transport us all into a world where kindness and beauty can embrace us all – if we open our eyes and our hearts."

Virginia McKenna OBE,  Co-Founder, Born Free Foundation

My favourite animals to watch are sloths and sifakas. Who could fail to love a three toed sloth with its Lone Ranger mask, Harpo Marx grin and under active metabolism, and the sight of sifakas bounding and leaping sideways never ceases to make me slowly sink to the ground in silent merriment"

Dame Maureen Lipman DBE, Actor

We are also super excited to announce that there is a tremendous collaboration coming between legendary animal welfare activist and top actor, Peter Egan and Nowzad; again more details in the next newsletter as it is top secret. Please don’t tell anyone…!
All we can say is we have been trying to make this happen for several years and finally it is!!

Whatever happens for the remainder of 2021 whether it be coronavirus or the Taliban; Nowzad is determined to be here for the animals of Afghanistan with no voice but yours.

Please donate and support us as you can – it will be the difference here at the Nowzad shelter.

It has been another crazy, non-stop day for Pen, Angela, and the team on the frontlines. A little update... After kicking off the morning (once Pen finally figured out it was indeed Wednesday! 😂), the team hit the ground running with Ksenia to coordinate another critical animal evacuation before the long journey west. Just last night, a litter of newborn puppies was left abandoned right outside the rescue office. With no guarantees of finding them immediate homes, the team took them in withou

The first evacuation of the week is officially complete! After a 9 to 10-hour drive today, Pen and Angela have safely arrived at an animal shelter in Smila, Western Ukraine this evening, to unload these beautiful rescues and settle them into their new homes. It was a journey of highs and lows. Sadly, they faced a heartbreaking detour to try and save a cat found along the way, who passed away just a minute from reaching the vet. It’s a very sad reminder of how fragile these lives are on the fron

OPERATION KRAMATORSK is such an emotional and vital mission for us all. Pen standing in Kramatorsk today and watching him and the staff there load up the poor dogs is incredibly upsetting. Just a few years ago, Nowzad proudly funded and built the kennels here, but due to the escalating situation, they have been dismantled and moved to safer shelters in the west to be rebuilt. And the reality on the ground is heartbreaking. Last night was intense for everyone in the Kramatorsk area - with heavy

It’s Caturday 😻🐾 This week, we want to share one of the many rescue stories unfolding in Kabul — a story of survival, hope, and a second chance. It all began with a desperate call. Kind-hearted local residents in Kabul spotted a frail, suffering cat who was barely holding on. Turbi hadn’t eaten for days. His tiny body was weak, exhausted, and fighting to survive. The discharge from his nose and eyes painted a heartbreaking picture — he needed urgent medical care, and he needed it fast. With
