From Ukraine to Afghanistan: How Network for Animals Powered Our Mission This Year

Network for Animals are true champions for those who have no voice, working tirelessly across the globe to end animal cruelty. This year, their support has been a cornerstone of Nowzad’s operations in both Ukraine and Afghanistan.

In the face of ongoing conflict, NFA has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us. Their generosity has powered our food distribution programme in Ukraine, ensuring that thousands of hungry animals in war-torn areas don't go forgotten. They have also supported our Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return programmes in dangerous frontline regions, preventing a crisis of stray populations and keeping communities safe.

Back in Afghanistan, the heat of the summer brought one of our biggest logistical challenges yet: relocating our entire veterinary hospital and donkey sanctuary across Kabul. Moving an entire clinic and dozens of rescued donkeys is no small feat! Thanks to NFA’s support by way of funding essentials like stable flooring, solar power upgrade, a new autoclave, a large animal surgery suite and even heaters for this winter, we successfully moved into our new homes!

To everyone at Network for Animals, all our other incredible partners and this incredible donor community we’re part of — Happy Christmas to you all!

Here’s to saving even more lives together in 2026!

It’s been another heavy week here in Kabul. Our team is currently celebrating the Islamic festival of Eid but, with more attacks on the city, the tension is palpable. Thank goodness though - Dr Reshad, his team and all our precious rescue animals are safe. Thank you so much to everyone for asking about the situation and how they all are. But... all are feeling the weight of the ongoing crisis and it’s hard for us here in the UK not to feel helpless sometimes :( Even in the toughest times th

For those who don’t know, Canicross is the exhilarating sport of cross-country running with your dog. It’s all about teamwork, t

Remember Blue? We first introduced you to this sweet boy back in December, and today, we are absolutely delighted to share an update on beautiful Blue! After his devastating accident, Blue’s road to recovery looked long and uncertain. The impact was severe, causing significant injuries to his internal organs — specifically his lungs — which required careful monitoring and X-rays to track the damage. He also struggled with a painful tear in her upper palate that made the simple act of eating a d

Instead of our usual Fury post this week, and due to the whole, absolutely devastating situation in the region, we wanted to give an update from our team in Kabul. Thank you to every one of you who have asked us how they and all the animals are doing recently. We always pass your messages on. And it helps so much in times like these. ❤️ Your kindness and care keeps our teams going, until that day when peace finally replaces conflict and war. “In recent months, daily life in Afghanistan has b
