Meet Paola and her brand-new baby boy — the newest arrivals to be welcomed by Nowzad’s great friends over in the Horse Paradise Sanctuary, Kyiv (Ukraine). Two lives saved, just in the nick of time.
Paola’s story came to us through an extremely courageous lady named Dasha. As conditions in the Kyiv region have worsened, Paola’s former farmer began downsizing, and almost her entire herd was very sadly sent to slaughter.
Knowing Paola was carrying a baby, Dasha refused to give up on her and approached the Sanctuary. Despite Horse Paradise being stretched to the limit preparing for winter, the team just couldn't look away from two lives at stake, on the day of slaughter. They borrowed the funds needed to buy Paola out, and brought her to safety at the sanctuary.
Just two weeks after arriving at Horse Paradise, Paola gave birth to a healthy, beautiful little colt on Friday evening! In the worse of circumstances, a little foal of hope.
He is safe, warm, and surrounded by love, but he still needs one very important thing... a name! We love running these little competitions as it means this little boy will live with a tiny bit of us all with him too. Just drop your name suggestions for him in the comments below!
