War leaves its mark on everyone — and animals are no exception. These little faces have already been far too close to a world no puppy should ever know. They were brought to our partner shelter in Zaporizhzhia by Ukrainian soldiers, rescued from areas on or close to the front line.
But puppies have a wonderful way of reminding us what hope looks like.
Safe at the shelter, with full bellies, gentle hands and people looking out for them, these little ones have bounced back beautifully. Their days are no longer about danger or survival. Now there are far more important things to worry about — who gets the best toy, who can cause the most mischief, and who can persuade the humans to give out an extra cuddle!
And that is exactly how it should be.
Life remains incredibly difficult across the front lines in Ukraine, but with your help, we can continue making sure animals caught up in this terrible war receive food, veterinary care, shelter and, most importantly, a chance to feel safe again.
Thank you for standing with Nowzad and the animals of Ukraine. Every wagging tail, every playful puppy and every animal given a second chance is a little piece of hope — and you help make it possible.
