Remember those tiny puppies our team rescued from that hole in the road a couple of weeks ago after some kind construction workers spotted them? Well...they are all thriving, growing stronger every day, and having a very good time tumbling around in our exercise area being built at the moment!
But there’s one extra special story from this rescue family...
When we were first alerted, one of the mum's was desperately sick and suffering from severe mange. Tragically, before our team could reach them, one of her precious puppies fell into a ditch and didn't make it. We rushed the vulnerable mother and her newborn litter straight to our hospital for urgent veterinary treatment and care.
The journey was pretty critical — mum was so weak that she gave birth to two more puppies on the way, but due to her poor health, they sadly didn't survive.
Then, in her weakened and disoriented state at the hospital, mum accidentally stepped on two of her little ones, and despite our team's best efforts, we lost them too. It left her with just two surviving puppies.
That’s when something beautiful happened.
We had another lone rescued puppy in our care who desperately needed a mother’s care and wasn't responding well to the powder milk. With gentle encouragement, we introduced the orphan to this mother and, without any hesitation at all, she took the little pup in, nursing the puppy as if it were her own.
Today, this incredible mum is nursing and caring for all three puppies.
