We thought it was about time for an update on Operation Kramatorsk – launched by Nowzad back in May!
Very worryingly and sadly, the situation in the Kramatorsk danger zone has now reached a critical point. Russian drones have recently begun actively targeting large vans in the area, making our usual means of animal transport impossible. Moving forward, the only way to continuing evacuating the final dogs and cats from Drooh Shelter — a shelter we have proudly supported for many years — is through Ksenia and her brave volunteers operating armoured vehicles.
So, earlier this week, another 16 dogs were safely driven away from Drooh to a partner shelter in the west - Pegasus. The team at Pegasus has been working frantically to construct new kennels just in time.
We are beyond forever grateful to this whole team - Pegasus, Ksenia and her incredible volunteers, and of course the dedicated staff at Drooh who have loved and cared for these animals for so long – all under terrifying conditions. Once relocated to safer shelters in the west, these rescue dogs and cats can finally be adopted into loving Ukrainian homes.
Do take a look at some scenes from Drooh Shelter earlier this week, along with footage and pics of recent rescues settling in with our generous partner shelters across the country.
