ON THE ROAD FOR UKRAINE’S ANIMALS – BEEP BEEP!
This past week, the Nowzad team has been on an intensive journey across Ukraine - driving through Borodianka, Hostomel, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and the Horse Paradise Shelter near Kyiv. From visiting hard-working animal rescue shelters and vet clinics to stocking emergency evacuation points, we have been dropping off food, essential supplies, and vital equipment to keep rescue operations going in ever-increasingly challenging conditions.
One of our primary objectives was handing over our recently-purchased evacuation vehicle, known as "Ambo," alongside hundreds of transport crates to Ksenia and her team. Thank you so much again to Michelle at Buddies Freedom Transport, Sarah Angel, and Jacqui & Steve Honour!
A couple of weeks ago, Ksenia suffered a devastating loss when her own rescue vehicle was struck by an FPV drone, tragically losing a dog and injuring animal passengers, as well as their courageous volunteer driver. Handing over "Ambo" and these crates ensured that Ksenia could get back out to the frontlines the very next day – saving animals in dire need. Ksenia and her team are absolute real-life heroes.
While stopping in Hostomel, we had the heart-warming opportunity to reunite with some familiar faces rescued from Kramatorsk earlier this summer. This included Peter Dog, who was extremely poorly when we first evacuated him from Kramatorsk - but is now looking incredible, and enjoying his daily walks out in the rain! We also checked in on Baba - the brave old girl we rescued directly from the very frontlines - and Bluey, who is happy, healthy, and thriving at Hostomel. Maria and her team are also true heroes!
But none of these deliveries, handovers, or life-saving evacuations would be possible without your incredible donations and ongoing support.
Together, we are keeping hope alive for animals caught in the crossfire.
