It’s Caturday and - with that - a story of strength and determination

Meet Koh which, translated, means "Mountain". Koh spent her whole life in a small neighbourhood, the last remaining member of her feline family. Gentle and friendly, she was well‑known there and patient with the local children, even when their play became too rough.

One evening, she appeared outside her rescuer’s door, calling softly for help. She was limping badly on her hind leg. After being brought inside and examined the next morning, it became clear her leg had been broken for several days and she had been enduring the pain alone.

At the hospital, X‑rays showed a complex fracture. Despite treatment, her damaged leg could not be saved, and amputation became necessary to protect her life.

This amazing little kitty spent many weeks under intensive veterinary care - needing daily cleaning, medication, and close monitoring. Through it all, she remained remarkably brave, frightened at times, hurting often, but never giving up.

Today, Koh is healing beautifully. She moves with confidence, trusts deeply, and loves chicken and gentle head massages — carrying the quiet strength of the mountain she’s named for.

Koh is just one of many animals brought to us every day. Our Kabul team works tirelessly in the most challenging circumstances - day and night, seven days a week - to save lives. Thank you to the whole team for their unwavering dedication.

Once fully recovered, Koh will be available for adoption in the West. If you feel you could open your hearts and home to Koh or any one of our wonderful kitties please email Jen at adoptions@nowzad.com

Thank you so much from Koh and all our cats - and have a great "Caturday", wherever in the world you are today!
