A couple of weeks ago, we had a very interesting addition to our hospital. Local residents in one of Kabul's remoter districts (Sheena) had found an injured eagle and, in their kindness, taken it on themselves to try and look after the bird - to get it back to full strength again. They're certainly not the easiest of animals to care for though - so they soon reached out to our team through NEPA (Afghanistan’s National Environmental Protection Agency).
Once the eagle had arrived at our Emergency Animal Hospital, our vet team got right to work on its treatment and rehab. Recovery takes time, but with plenty of careful nursing, the bird gradually built back the strength it needed to fly again.
There really is nothing better than seeing a rescued animal make a full recovery and - the icing on the cake - is always seeing it then head safely back into the wild, where it belongs.
Keep an eye on our page tomorrow too — we’ll be sharing another good news story about another wild bird, saved through our partnership with NEPA.
Thank you, as always, for your support towards our work for all animals - both great and small.
