Happy #Caturday, Nowzad family! Today, our whiskered friends take centre stage as we celebrate a huge milestone for Nowzad, made only possible by the amazing Angela on the ground in Ukraine!
Our fabulous vet tech, Angela, has been out in Mykolayev during September, putting in serious work to keep vulnerable animals safe from rabies. This past month alone, she successfully vaccinated 119 animals — including a bunch of lucky local kitties vaccinated in partnership with a wonderful local initiative!
And we have even bigger news...
WE OFFICIALLY BROKE PAST THE 3,500 MARK! 
Since the awful Nova Kakhovka dam disaster back in June 2023, Nowzad has vaccinated a staggering 3,536 animals against rabies across Ukraine!
That is literally THOUSANDS of precious cats (and their canine buddies of course) protected from a deadly disease while living through the toughest conditions imaginable.
Every single microchip, vaccine, and health check gives these resilient cats a fighting chance at a safer, healthier future.
What’s next on the horizon?
We are setting our sights on Izyum for our next vaccination drive! It’s been a whole year since we were last on the ground there protecting their local animals. The Kharkiv region — Izyum in particular — remains under heavy, repeated fire, causing significant damage to local power networks, water supplies, and residential areas. The constant displacement also means the stray population has grown, making rabies prevention even more urgent for surviving animals.
