Hope, a beautiful German Shepherd, once served as a loyal guard dog for an NGO in Kabul. His life took a traumatic turn in April 2025 when a horrific road accident left him with severe fractures to his hind leg. Sadly abandoned to fend for himself on the streets while suffering from a serious infection, Hope’s future looked bleak until he was rescued and brought to our animal hospital. To save his life and stop the spread of infection, our medical team made the difficult decision to perform an emergency amputation.
Since then, Hope has transitioned into a healthy, active life, proving that his spirit is just as resilient as his name suggests. This highly intelligent and alert boy has become a beloved resident, showing incredible strength as he navigates the world on three legs. He is a dog of great character who absolutely adores his Kong toys, showing a ferocious appetite and impressive determination to reach every last treat! Despite his physical challenges, Hope is energetic and always ready for a training session or a game of fetch with a ball. He is wonderfully social and behaves beautifully around other dogs, though he is famously vocal about his dislike for wearing a lead.
Hope is particularly proud of his thick, beautiful coat and loves nothing more than a long grooming session after a stint in the exercise yard. Bizarrely, this resilient survivor is a huge fan of the cold and is at his most joyful when playing in the fresh snow. Today, his high energy and glowing health are a testament to his bravery and the dedicated care he receives at Nowzad.
