Coco, Shadow, Minnie and Tigger were 4 gorgeous kittens that were being taken care of by an American contractor on a base in Kabul. The kittens spent their days entertaining the troops and contractors on the base but as is often the case, word came that the cats had to be removed or they faced being euthanized.
Our Nowzad team collected the 4 bundles of fluff and they quickly settled into a daily routine at the shelter in their own 4 *cat cabins. Sadly about 2 weeks after they arrived they all started showing signs of feline distemper which is a disease that is a huge problem in Afghanistan, they had started receiving their shots but sadly this disease can incubate for a couple of weeks before symptoms show and it looked like they had arrived with the disease. We quickly began round the clock care for the kitties but sadly it was just too much for Minnie and Tigger and they lost their fight for life a few days later.
Coco and Shadow started to improve and thankfully recovered from the disease so we now needed to start getting them home. Whilst we were planning for Coco and Shadow to go home their contractor owner graciously offered some more of our resident Nowzad kittens a home and Max, Shy Boy, Orange and Big Ears were selected to go home to America as well.
