Calliou had been found all alone near to the base at a very young age and was taken in by soldiers who cared for her and nursed her to full health.

Calliou was named after a fallen comrade of her new adopted soldier so to leave her behind was just never going to be an option and after several weeks of planning we were able to transport Calliou to the safety of the Nowzad shelter.

The soldier was from Canada and after vaccinations and amazingly quick fundraising by our supporters Calliou was flown to her new forever home in 2010.
