Sharifa

Sharifa

Sharifa’ as she was named, was found by local Afghans at the popular ‘Sakhi Shrine’ in Mazar-e-Sharif in a very bad way. More or less about to give up and die. But thankfully Nowzad is gaining a very good reputation in Afghanistan and a message was passed to us about a dog that desperately needed our help.

Without a moment’s hesitation our amazing Afghan team at the Nowzad clinic jumped into action and arranged to have the poor mite transported to our clinic in Kabul arriving less than 24 hours later.

Her condition was worse that we had feared, immediately realising that she had a strand of old rope that at one time had probably been used as a lead when she was a pup; now embedded in her neck. And that was on top of the very severe case of mange she was suffering from.

But under the care of the Nowzad vet team Sharifa responded well to the gentle care and attention she was given. she just could not get enough cuddles from everyone who came to treat her, always struggling to lift her neck due to the nerve damage caused by the embedded string. Even whn it was removed she would always have problems holding her neck up.

Without a moment's hesitation, two of Nowzad most amazing volunteers David and Ann, offered Sharifa a loving forever home in London.
And thanks to the amazing donations given by the Nowzad family we are so happy that Sharifa is now safely living in London and supporting Nowzad events to receive cuddles from all who stop by to donate and say hello.

Thank you to all involved in making this such a happy ending for this deserving little dog. Why not follow her adventures here in the UK by liking her Facebook page? Yes; she has her own page you can visit here
