Bosco ( I swear he’s not always this lazy :] ), my 6 yr old Schnauzer/German Shephard. I guess you can say he was a rescue. He belonged to my neighbors as a puppy. He was too rambunctious to keep in the house with the kids so they put him in the garage where he chewed up their phone lines. He was then tied up outside and was not played with. My mom and I fell in love with him and next thing we knew, we had a new addition to the family!
A picture of my dogs Tarka, a border terrier and Sheba the Shar-Pei. Plus my sisters dog Jasmine a boxer. On christmas day, after the bits of turkey! My shar-pei is a rescue dog who was on dog death row before she was rescued. I took her on from her dog foster home. I have a big passion for dogs. Keep up the good work and keep the animal passion for animals alive. Deb

Here is a photo of our two {kids}, the retriever was rescued by my daughter as she was abandoned in a house, left with no water in 45 degrees when she was 8mnths old..She has been with us for 4yrs and she is “mother” to our baby maltese.
Good luck for the future rescues. Cant wait to read book 2.
I have attached a pic of the 2 loves of my life Jasper (Collie/spaniel cross) and Mak (Dalmation). I rescued Jasper from 13 years ago from our local Cat and Dog home. Mak will also be 13 next month albeit he has his share of ailments in the last 6 months.
I found your article in the Flybe magazine en route to a recent holiday and decided to check up on the website on my return. I am so impressed with what you do so much so I have started to donate monthly from my salary as you as such a worthy cause, keep up the fantastic work !!
16 month old pure breed male Sage Koochee / Kuchi. Rescued from Kabul and now lives in the north of England. A huge operation to get him. With the help of Nowzad hopefully more of this fantastic animal can be rescued and let this ancient dog breed live on.
A Sage puppy in Kabul sat next to his proud farther who now lives in England.

This is my 3 year old cat Nubeh (cloud in Spanish) and my 8 month old Chihuahua Gypsy. They are the best of friends and I don’t know what they would do without each other…they play hide and seek, they pounce on each other, and Nubeh even cleans her and licks her face all the time. They are just precious
You really are amazing compassionate people. Keep up the good work – those dogs need you. My rottie is very, very much loved and wants for nothing and loves to lie in front of the woodburning stove in the winter, Those poor dogs in war areas – thanks god they find some compassion and human kindness. xx
Heidi Jan 2006 – Sept 2010. R-I-P much loved little girl. You gave us so much love and joy, every dog deserves the chance of a loving home and the Nowzad charity is one we will continue to support x
We have five “rescued” cats who have all been abused, abandoned or just moved-out on. We at one time had a house full of 13 cats, two dogs and a guinea pig. Some have passed on and we no longer have any dogs (as my husband is severely allergic) but we still carry rawhide bones and biscuits for other animals we meet on life’s road. We also feed raccoons, skunks, opposums and the local stray cats in the neighbourhood nightly. Now that we are on pensions we can no longer take in more strays as the cost of spay/neuter and shots is much too high, but our little brood is well cared for and are inside only, animals. They have all, in their way, added to the richness of our lives and will continue to do so until they pass on. It frustrates me that so many people consider animals as “disposable!” Fortunately our local shelters are all involved in taking education and pets to the classrooms starting with the youngest children to teach them responsible pet ownership. This should be a privilege, not a right, to care for another life, two or four-legged. Thanks Pen and Lisa and all the volunteers involved in this fight to save lives in the middle east.
although some awful things happen to animals it’s always inspirational to see and hear how many people do genuinely care. have always had both cats and dogs so am an afficiedo of both. keep up all the good work it’s important if humanity is to continue to honour all living creatures.

See Milly the Minx (although I think it says ‘Mix’!) on Page 3. We felt sorry for her being on her own so decided to give home to her half brother from the second litter. Milly is now a grown up Minx, or should we call her ‘Milly the Magpie’ as she’s an accomplished thief! She makes her little brother look like an angel but despite her putting him in his place she loves him to bits (but of course she wouldn’t admit to it!).
Marilyn…a rescue cat who came with Cornelius. She was very abused and took 7 years to trust again…she is so full of love now despite ailing through old age…we love you sweetheart..xx
For many years I rescued for a wildlife center but some people didn’t want to look after feral pigeons. I adore them, having lived in London as a child.
This is Hindi who came to me having been burnt badly by a man in a pub garden for fun. It took months of recovery but he made it through. He is still in my garden three years later, has a partner (Bindi) and they nest in my garden shed where they have brought up over 20 babies together.
This is Daisy! My wife and I participated in her rescue after she’d been abandoned. Daisy is a purebred AKC-registered Golden Retriever and we adore her. I recently finished ‘One Dog at a Time’ and was very moved by Pen & Lisa’s compassion, and all his ‘lads’ too. Tonight, in Tacoma WA (10/13/2010), I had the honor of meeting Pen and hearing him speak at a slideshow and book signing.
God Bless you Pen and ‘Job Bloody Well Done Mate!’
so this is our “save” found him in a junk yard right off a highway in the middle of winter. He was barley 4 months old…. i can say for sure that my whole family loves what nowzad does for these animals
Ace is our rescued Australian Shepherd. He’s perfect on our small farm with horses sheep and cats. He’s a great companion on runs and hikes as well as by our side as I ride my horse. Life is good!

Hi,
This is a picture of British Royal Navy Sailors (myself included) serving in Northern Ireland in the late 1990′s. Our mascot was ‘Semtex’ a German Shepard/Labrador cross bitch, she was found as a pup on the troubled streets of Belfast in pretty bad shape.
Semtex was everyones best mate, although for some reason she didn’t like officers!
Monkeypants is pure mutt–even a DNA test couldn’t determine this little loverbug’s breed!
He was found as a baby in a shopping cart near Skid Row in L.A. He now dedicates his time to chasing his three kitty siblings and taking up all the covers in bed.

This is my hand rear, Jazzy – she came to me having been thrown in a dumpster at a week old. Her fur peeled off from injuries and although it has grown back, she’s always been small for her age. Very much my baby as I bottle fed her – and my dogger, Miss Dee, washed her!

My boyfriend and I have four cats. The two in the picture are Walter (large one) and Leela (little one). I found Leela while out walking. She was in bad shape, and she is still showing effects of her bad start in life. But, she doesn’t seem to know it and she makes up for it in attitude. Walter is her best buddy. He’s a Ragdoll. I highly recommend adopting one from a rescue or shelter. They are wonderful cats. Thank you Nowzad for all your hard work for the animals. I hope every dog and cat could know the kind of peace and contentment that you see in this picture. –Alyssa & Aaron (staff) Roxy, Walter, Pinky & Leela (cats)
