FUNdraising never stops - the animals need our support

The last year proved that Nowzad is needed now more than ever, as we battled against the worsening security situation that our team face on a daily basis.
Sadly, in May this year, just one Taliban attack in Kabul left 150 people dead and 350 injured. Three of our team were just minutes away from the blast, on their way to collect cats for our TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, return) programme.
I know all of you will breathe a sigh of relief to hear they returned to the Nowzad clinic shaken but unscathed. Undeterred, they collected the cats the very next day.

To everybody who has donated, continues to donate and for all those who give up their time and energy to ensure our success as a charity, you have our utmost thanks, it is your support that is the lifeblood of animal welfare in Afghanistan.

We will win this fight with you beside us.

This last year has seen the Nowzad Family climb mountains; run marathons, take part in triathlons, jump out of planes, bake cakes, walk dogs and turn out in all weathers to run stalls and shake collection tins, as well as our generous donors who support our work.

From all of us here at Nowzad we thank you so much! Without you the animals of Afghanistan would have no one and you inspire us every day.

On the 11th March Pen Farthing headed to Stoke-On-Trent to tell the 'tail' of how he met Nowzad the dog 10 years ago in Helmand province, Afghanistan - and what a fabulous night of fundraising it was! You can read all about it here

Our very own Afghan team wanted to be involved in raising the profile of Nowzad and so took part in the Manniquin challenge that was all over social media earlier this year... I think you will agree they definitely pulled out all the stops. You can watch it here

The Shack in Virginia Beach on the east of coast of the USA, hosted the ‘Crushin’ On Pets for Vets supported by Atlantic Bay mortgage group on May 18th – and what a turn out they had to raise donations for Nowzad! Owners and their dogs enjoyed the fantastic evening sunshine to show their support for our work in Afghanistan whilst enjoying the complimentary orange crushes! Over $1000 was raised in just one evening of fantastic fundraising! Thank you so much to all who came along to support the event.

And the marvellous team lead by Frannie in Pennsylvania raised a whopping $500 at the Fur Follies event held on a glorious day back in May.

Long term supporter Jo has organised her fourth Ashdown Forest Walk in aid of Nowzad, an event growing in popularity every year with supporters and their dog alike! A massive thank you to Jo and all who turned out to walk and raise money for Nowzad. We’re sure the cream tea at the end of the walk were very well deserved!

Back in November during Remembrance weekend we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of Nowzad founder Pen Farthing's first meeting with that dock eared fighting dog that became the inspiration for the charity and what a celebration it was! After reading all about it here there may still be tickets for this years event - click here for more details!

And we cannot forget to mention the lovely Victoria Stilwell who organised an event to raise for Nowzad in Atlanta - it was a fab night with folks travellin as far a field as Alabama and Texas to attend. All the details of the evenings festivities can be found here

If you would like to organise an event for Nowzad, maybe even have Pen come and give one of his inspirational talks, please get in touch with the Nowzad office. Just email us here

We can never rest. We MUST be there for the animals of Afghanistan. Your support in any way you can give, whether your time or generous donation, is so needed and appreciated. You will be the difference for an animal.
