10 year celebration!

Back in November during Remembrance weekend we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of Nowzad founder Pen Farthing's first meeting with that dock eared fighting dog that became the inspiration for the charity and what a celebration it was!

10 years ago Pen & the lads of Kilo Company, 42 Commando Royal Marines were sent to the remote market town of NowZad in Helmand Province and they had no idea how that tour of duty would change their lives and ultimately be responsible for the introduction of animal welfare in Afghanistan!

A big thank you to two extremely enthusiastic supporters; David & Ann; who organised the whole celebration evening which saw supporters travel from all over the UK and even from Canada and the USA to the Audley pub in central London to join Pen, Hannah and the Nowzad Trustees in a fabulous night where we listened to a reading by the legendary actor and animal welfare activist Peter Egan before the singing and dancing began! The accompanying vegertarian food was well received and washed down by ample quantities of beer to toast the night away! And of course lots of money was raised for the charity along the way!

There were definitely some sore heads the following day amongst the supporters paying their respects at the Animals in War memorial in Mayfair for a service where Pen carried out a reading.

It was such a good night (for those that can remember it.....!) that David and Ann have decided to do it all again! Contact Ann here for details of the event planned for the 11th November 2017! Already it is promising to be another fun filled night.

10 year celebration! 10 year celebration! 10 year celebration!
