A busy time has been had by all at Nowzad over Christmas and New Year! We saw our first ever Christmas Day rescue, Mahla a gorgeous female pup arrived safely at the Nowzad Rescue Centre early on Christmas morning following a long, dangerous trip. Mahla is now settling well at the centre where she will be cared for until we can raise the funds to send her home….
When John Steele decided on a name for his Afghan rescue German shepherd mix puppy Kaiah in September, he merged two distinct and contrasting components — the site of the first base (Kabul) he frequented in the mountainous, war-torn Southcentral Asian country with the a Hawaiian name (Native American origin) meaning “rare beauty.”
Remember our little chap Reorg? Well he got released from quarantine in October 2010 and this great news story was done about him.

With less than a week left until Christmas the rescues are still coming in thick and fast and we have seen the arrival of Nikita and Spirit at the Nowzad Rescue Centre in the last week.
Spirit and Nikita have come from the same base as the Gimpy Gang and both were in danger……
Christmas is approaching and we would like to now take the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us through what has been an incredible year. We are busier than ever before and this year we have performed more rescues than ever before and they continue to come in thick and fast but we simply could not do this without you supporting us…….
